we believe

JESUS is the center of everything for our church.

The NEW TESTAMENT is our creed.

Our church is our FAMILY.

PRAYER changes things.

We must FOLLOW as the Spirit leads.

The Bible is the source of TRUTH.

SHARING the love of God with others is our mission.

God loves YOU with an everlasting love.

HOW DO WE LIVE OUT OUR FAITH?

We revere the Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit;  the atoning grace of Jesus Christ and His bodily resurrection; the virgin birth.  We know that Jesus is the only name by which we can be saved and He will come again in glory and in judgement.

  • BELIEVERS BAPTISM

We believe that one must first believe that Jesus is Savior and Lord before one can be baptized. Brethren look to Mark 16:16 where Jesus says, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Baptism is an outward expression of a previous act of salvation through the acceptance of Jesus Christ a savior.  Therefore, one is not saved by the act of baptism but baptism is an outward expression proclaiming to others the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

  • ANOINTING WITH OIL

In Mark 6, Jesus sent out His disciples and told them to preach and teach and anoint with oil those who were sick. In James 5, we are told that if anyone is sick that we should call on the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. After any worship service you may request anointing. A deacon team, along with the pastor will be at the front of the church to meet you and pray for your need.

  • LOVE FEAST

West Green Tree, as well as other Church of the Brethren, take the Last Supper very seriously. We not only partake in Holy Communion with the breaking of the bread and the partaking of the fruit of the vine as a symbol of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, we also incorporate an Agape meal, representing the fellowship of the followers of Jesus, and the washing of feet, representing the teaching of Jesus to be a humble servant. We find Love Feast as a humble and inspirational way to remember our Savior. (Luke 22:19)

  • Universal PRIESTHOOD

The priesthood of all believers is a central principal in how we minister in the Brethren church. All baptized members are ministers utilizing their gifts of the Spirit, their talents, and passion for the work of the Lord inside and outside of the church body. (1 Peter 2:4-9)

  • laying on of hands

In the brethren church we continue this practice during baptism, anointing, and commissioning for our pastors, deacons, and missionaries. This one simple act connects us in the Spirit through a physical touch and confers a gift of blessing. This is symbolic of the giving and receiving of the Holy Spirit, but all power and glory that comes from it belongs only to the Lord. (Acts 6:6 & 13:3, 1 Timothy 4:14)
