Our speaker
Jordan Martin brings more than 20 years of experience in agriculture, leadership and ministry to his role as Executive Director of First Fruits Farm. A lifelong farmer, Martin grew up on a dairy farm in northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Science in agronomy and environmental science from Delaware Valley University and has spent the past two decades working in the agriculture industry.
He has served on the First Fruits Farm Board for several years, first volunteering at the farm and becoming more deeply involved beginning in 2018. His connection to the mission is rooted in a lifelong passion for growing food and blessing those in need in the name of Jesus. In 2012, he and his wife, Rachael, established their family farm, First Fruits Farm and Orchard, with the intent of honoring God through stewardship and donating produce to local ministries years before they had ever heard of First Fruits Farm in Freeland Maryland where he is now the Executive Director.
An ordained and practicing pastor, Jordan Martin has served Middle Creek Church in Lancaster County. His leadership focus is discipleship and mentorship. He is currently completing a Master of Arts in biblical studies at Lancaster Bible College.
Jordan lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with Rachael, his wife of 20 years, and their three children: Eve, Paxton, and Laney. He sees his work at First Fruits Farm as the intersection of his calling in agriculture, business, and ministry.
our event
Tractor Sunday has become an annual event here at
West Green Tree!
Since 2011, we have been inviting local farmers to spend the day with us as we honor them, thank God for His provision and blessings and share fellowship.
The day brings a word from God as guest speakers share what has been placed upon their heart.
It also brings food!
Enjoy a home-cooked meal prepared by our kitchen staff.
AND what would a day featuring farmers and their commitment to this community be if we didn't offer an opportunity to see and explore many different types, colors and sizes of tractors all under
the 'big tent'.
Join us this year and experience TRACTOR SUNDAY!
our offering
First Fruits Farm was born in 1998 when the Bernstein family moved to a farm in northern Baltimore County. The idea was that they would plant and harvest their fields using a volunteer work force and donate the resulting fresh produce to organizations serving needy families and individuals in their community.
Hereford United Methodist
Church backed the farm until 2004, when First Fruits Farm, Inc. was granted its
own tax-exempt status, organized a board of directors and officers, and began
operating as an official nonprofit organization. Rick and Carol are quick to
give all the glory to God and are grateful for the many volunteers who support
the farm.
In 2019, after many years of prayerful consideration and gracious benefactors, First Fruits Farm moved to our current home on Middletown Road in Freeland. This 203-acre property allowed us to expand the ministry even further. We were blessed with another addition to the Farm in 2023...acquiring a 78-acre neighboring farm bringing our total acreage to 281 and increasing our ability to GROW MORE - GIVE MORE - SERVE MORE in Jesus’ name.
The Farm's story has inspired many over the years, and word of our ministry has spread thanks to articles in numerous publications, media coverage, and accolades given in acknowledgment of the Farm's good work. And while it does take a village to keep First Fruits Farm running and productive, the Bernsteins rely on God to advance each aspect of the ministry.
